Youcanusethegainpresetsandotherfunctionstoimprovethequalityoftheradarpicture.
ThefollowingsettingsapplytoHDradomesandHDandSuperHD
openarraydigitalscanners:

Gainpresets
•Buoy—aspecialmodethatenhancesthe
detectionofsmallobjectslikemooringbuoys.Itis
usefulatrangesupto0.75nm.
•Harbor—thisisthedefaultmode.Thissetting
takesaccountoflandcluttersothatsmallertargets,
likenavigationbuoys,arenotlost.
•Coastal—accountsfortheslightlyhigherlevelsof
seaclutteryoumightencounteroutofharborand
adjuststheradardisplayaccordingly.
•Offshore—automaticallyadjustsforhighlevels
ofseaclutter.
•BirdMode—aspecialmodethathelpsyouto
identifyocksofbirds,usefulwhenidentifying
suitableshinglocations,forexample.
Foreachpreset,thefollowingoptionsareavailable:
•Gain—enablesyoutouseapresetinautomatic
mode,ortoadjustitsgainmanuallybetween0
and100%.
•ColorGain—adjuststheintensity(color)of
displayedtargets,butdoesnotsignicantlyaffect
thenumberoftargetsdisplayed.Increasingthe
colorgaincausesmoretargetstobedisplayedin
thesamecolor,whichmayhelpyoutodetermine
whetheranobjectisanactualtarget,orjust
backgroundnoise.Reducingthecolorgainmay
providebettertargetdetailanddetection.
•Rain—theradarscannerdetectsechoesfrom
rainorsnow.Theseechoesappearonscreenas
countlesssmallechoescontinuouslychanging
size,intensityandposition.Turningtherainclutter
functiononsuppressesthebulkeffectofrain
returnsfromaroundyourvessel,makingiteasier
torecognizeotherobjects.
•SeaGain—radarechoesfromwavesaroundyour
vesselcanclutterthecenteroftheradarpicture,
makingitdifculttodetectrealtargets.Adjusting
theseagainreducesthisclutterforupto5nautical
miles(dependingonwaveandseaconditions)
fromyourvessel.
•SuperHDControls—forSuperHDscannersonly:
Thedigitalradargainpresetsenableyoutoquickly
selectpre-conguredsettingstoachievethebest
pictureindifferentsituations.Raymarinestrongly
recommendstheuseofthesepresetstoachieve
optimumresults.However,eachofthegainpresets
canbemanuallyadjustedusinggain,colorgain,rain,
andseagainfunctions.
